Handy Famm is a family of fun animal character-based tools to help engage young and young-at-heart in the joy of DIY STEM projects. Handy Famm is an un-boring way to perform home construction and decor jobs – from building and repairs, to hanging pictures and everything in between.

Inspiration
Handy Famm is an inspiration by OffWhite Labs, created as a result of noticing a lack of fun yet construction grade tools for those young and young at heart. Our super talented creative teams went hard at work finding the perfect item to launch.
After many months of trial and error and working with our factory to refine the design for production, Handy Famm was born!
Product Design
From the outset our goal was to combine a tape measure with a patentable character design to roll out as a series of products. We started with studying various animal forms as selected the bird design as a cute yet logical solution. The tape measure acts as the bird’s tongue which retracts from its beak. A very iconic large eye design functions as nifty level.
Branding
The brand approach was to keep a quality professional feel that would fit well in a Home Depot type setting yet be playful enough to catch attention.
Packaging
Our goal with packaging was to limit the amount of waste where possible. We came up with a solution to secure the product in a fun setting as if the bird was flying free, then, with minimal use of blister material we shield the product and keep it safe from theft. Consumers can still engage with the product and play with the cool features, pull the ruler tongue and rotate the eye without removing from the casing.

OffWhite built a full e-commerce experience for users to get a full understanding of the product features.
Social Media
To help support brand building initiatives we developed a social media strategy to engage on Facebook and Instagram with fun graphic scenes and animation vignettes where our Handy Famm measuring tape could live and function.
